Whether you call it a turkey waddle, turkey neck, or double chin, one thing is certain: That excess fat and/or sagging skin makes you look heavier and older than you are. VIDA offers two options to non-surgically treat the double chin, Kybella, and Ultherapy. Complimentary consultations are available for all treatments, so it’s easy to see if bidding adieu to your turkey neck via these minimally invasive procedures is right for you.

VIDA is led by Medical Director Dr. Glen, who personally trains and supervises the staff. Injectors (as Kybella is an injectable) are exclusively performed by Dr. Kim Thompson, Kseniya Trofimchik, RN, and Ashley Stiner, RN. We are more than a medical day spa, we are a facility with board-certified MDs, RNs, and medical professionals with multiple certifications. When you get treatments from those with the highest training and expertise, you can rest easy knowing you’ll love your results.

How Kybella Works

Kybella is a revolutionary injectable that actually dissolves unwanted fat cells below the chin. Submental fat can happen to anyone regardless of size (there is also a genetic component to it). Before Kybella, liposuction was the only option for getting rid of this fat for good—but liposuction is a surgery and comes with all the inherent risks of such a procedure.

Kybella is made with deoxycholic acid, an acid that occurs naturally in the body and whose “job” it is to dissolve fat. This procedure takes the acid and directs it exactly where it needs to be via a type of “stamping” device. Multiple injections are performed during each appointment, and clients will need multiple sessions to get their desired results. Conservativism is a must with Kybella because once deoxycholic acid dissolves fat cells, they’re permanently* gone. This means that just the right amount of fat must be dissolved—no more and no less.

Getting Rid of Double Chins

Kybella is highly effective, safe, and you will start to see results about one month after your first injection. Full results will be visible within six months of your last injection. However, excess fat isn’t the only reason we have the appearance of a double chin. Sometimes skin laxity and sagging can cause the appearance of a double chin—and, of course, some people have both excess fat and sagging skin.

When clients have just sagging skin in this area or a combination of fat and sagging skin, Ultherapy can be a fantastic option. It’s known as the non-surgical facelift and uses ultrasound technology to tighten and tone the skin. Ultherapy can only be applied to key areas, including the neck, which makes it a fantastic option for fixing neck skin laxity.

How Ultherapy Works

Ultrasound technology found in Ultherapy allows your provider to see exactly where the energy is reaching (deep below the skin’s surface!). Ultrasound energy heats up the layers where collagen production occurs. Lack of collagen production is a key cause for aging skin, including laxity. Ultherapy can “tell” the body to start producing an influx of collagen, which in turn tightens the treatment site.

Results of Ultherapy aren’t forever, but do last 1- 2 years on average. It is a completely non-invasive treatment with most clients saying that it feels like a hot or tingling sensation. Typically, no numbing topicals are needed for Ultherapy. Many times, both Kybella and Ultherapy can be performed at the same appointment if you struggle with double duty when it comes to turkey neck.

Look and Feel Your Best by 2022

Right now is the perfect time to start your farewells to a double chin. Both Kybella and Ultherapy require time before you see results, as the effect is not immediate. However, if you start treatments in November, you will see noticeable results by the new year. There’s no better way to kick off 2022 than by looking younger, healthier, and happier.

At VIDA, we also offer a variety of other treatments that can complement a double chin reduction. Chemical peels and other types of lasers can also help youth-ify skin and are routinely applied to the neck. It’s common to overlook this area when taking care of your skin, but the neck is actually one of the first places to show signs of aging.
