Skin Tightening/Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-surgical treatment that uses your body’s natural collagen-building process to lift and tighten skin on the face, neck, and chest (décolletage). Unlike laser skin tightening, which works from the outside-in, Ultherapy makes use of ultrasound waves that completely bypass the skin’s surface. Energy is delivered directly to the deep tissue, stimulating the body’s natural response to build new, fresh collagen. Ultherapy is the only skin tightening procedure that uses real-time ultrasound imaging, which allows us to see every layer of tissue being treated. This unprecedented approach ensures that energy is delivered only where it will be most effective.

A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with some degree of skin laxity that looks, and often feels, less firm. Loose skin under the neck and chin, as well as lines and wrinkles on the chest, are signs that you might be a good Ultherapy candidate at VIDA Aesthetic Medicine. Typically, those in their 30s and up with mild to moderate skin laxity are the best candidates for this treatment. Ultherapy isn’t a replacement for a surgical facelift, but if you’re like a lot of people and want some facial lifting but aren’t quite ready for surgery—mentally, physically, or financially—Ultherapy might be just what you’re looking for. Clients who are younger and want to “stay ahead of the game,” as well as patients who prioritize aesthetic maintenance treatments, can use Ultherapy as a preventative measure and effective real-time treatment.

How Ultherapy Works

Ultrasound imaging has been used throughout the medical field for over 50 years, and Ultherapy has been established as effective in clinical studies, with over one million treatments performed globally. It’s the only non-invasive treatment cleared by the FDA that uses the body’s natural collagen production to lift and tighten skin on the chin, neck, brow, and chest, all while using micro-focused ultrasound to improve skin laxity over time with no downtime after each treatment. Other skin tightening treatments might use heating methods that are imprecise and yield unpredictable results. However, Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology monitored in real-time that allows VIDA providers to see every treated area and direct energy to the ideal targets where it’s most effective.

VIDA has been offering Ultherapy treatments since 2013, and we have performed hundreds of treatments with excellent results. All VIDA providers are certified and trained by Ulthera and supervised by our medical director. A single non-invasive Ultherapy treatment at VIDA counteracts the negative effects of gravity and sun exposure without requiring any downtime. Don’t let aging and sagging skin affect your self-esteem. Gain confidence with Ultherapy as you regain a more youthful appearance.

What to Expect with Ultherapy Skin Tightening

During your complimentary consultation, VIDA providers will evaluate your candidacy for Ultherapy and create a custom treatment plan. Since no two faces are the same, every treatment is designed just for you and to achieve your best outcome. We’ll take care to make sure you’re comfortable and receive the safest, most effective treatment.

Ultherapy can be uncomfortable. However, a topical numbing cream is optional and helps to minimize any possible discomfort during the treatment. Afterward, you may experience some mild swelling, redness, and in rare cases bruising, but these are all temporary and will soon subside. You can get back to your life immediately after the procedure and can apply make-up immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can Ultherapy be used?2020-02-08T09:56:27-08:00

Ultherapy is ideal for the face, neck, eyes and brow area, and chest (décolletage).

How long does an Ultherapy treatment take?2020-02-08T09:56:59-08:00

The length of the appointment depends on the number and size of treatment areas. However, most clients spend 1–2 hours in our clinic for Ultherapy.

Is there any downtime with Ultherapy?2020-02-08T09:57:29-08:00

There typically is no downtime for Ultherapy, but you might experience minor swelling and redness after the treatment. There is also a slight possibility of minor bruising. You can immediately return to your daily life and can immediately apply make-up.

How long do Ultherapy results last?2020-02-08T09:58:24-08:00

Since Ultherapy stimulates your own collagen production, how long results last depend on the client. Ultherapy produces new collagen on the inside, but a person’s natural aging process dictates how long the exterior results will remain visible. In general, patients usually return every 2-3 years to maintain control over the aging process.

How is Ultherapy different from other cosmetic procedures?2020-02-08T09:57:59-08:00

Ultherapy is non-invasive and uses ultrasound to form new collagen deep beneath the skin’s surface. Real-time ultrasound imaging means the provider can see the layers of tissue that are being targeted during the treatment, ensuring that energy is directed exactly where it’s most beneficial. Producing new collagen takes time, so results can become most apparent three to four months after the procedure, and can even take up to six months.

Combine Ultherapy with Other Popular Treatments

Lax skin is one of the first signs of aging, but there are many other factors that can make you look older or more tired than you are. Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments for good reason. It’s the gold standard for stopping lines and wrinkles in their tracks and is most commonly injected between the brows, on the forehead, and around the eyes. However, it can also be used in the neck in conjunction with Ultherapy to eliminate fullness or the appearance of “bands.” Botox can also be used as a sort of mini brow lift, manipulating muscles temporarily to allow for a natural-looking lift and brightening of the eyes. Expert injections temporarily freeze the muscles that cause furrowing and wrinkles for 3 to 6 months, and Botox is an excellent complement to any Ultherapy treatment.

Like Ultherapy, microneedling also encourages collagen production at the treatment site. Microneedling is a minimally invasive, completely comfortable treatment that creates tiny micro-injuries in the skin to draw blood flow (including platelets and growth factors) to the site while encouraging collagen production. Microneedling is a fantastic addition to any treatment, and most clients opt for regular microneedling sessions every few months to sustain their results. This treatment can be used to treat a wide range of skin concerns, from light scarring to lines, cellulite, wrinkles, stretch marks, and lax skin.

A light chemical peel removes the very top layer of skin to unveil younger-looking skin below the surface. Simultaneously, the process encourages the production of collagen as part of the healing process. Light chemical peels can remove skin imperfections ranging from hyperpigmentation to fine lines and acne scarring. Unlike medium-depth chemical peels, there’s no downtime for light chemical peels, so you can immediately get back to your daily activities.

Kybella is a minimally invasive procedure that permanently removes excess fat below the chin and at the jawline to banish double chins and refine the jaw. You don’t need to carry extra weight to have a double chin, which is often caused by genetics and external factors. Kybella uses deoxycholic acid, which occurs naturally in the body, to dissolve targeted fat. These fat cells are then naturally absorbed and expelled by the body in the weeks following treatment.
