The term “laser treatment” has come to encompass a lot of technology—and not all of them are lasers. At VIDA, we understand that can be confusing, which is why our consultations are always complimentary for all treatments. As much more than a medical day spa in Salem, VIDA is led by Medical Director Dr. Vida Talebi who personally trains the entire staff to top standards, including estheticians who all hold CAE titles and are committed to providing clients with the ultimate “laser” experience.
First, let’s determine what exactly a laser is. VIDA is home to a number of authentic lasers, each designed to treat a variety of skin concerns. We have lasers suitable for all skin tones and types, so those with melanin abundance can enjoy the many benefits of laser skin rejuvenation (this wasn’t always the case, as lasers of years past could cause unwanted lightening of the skin, making them useful to only some clientele). However, we’ve come a long way with laser technology and now there are lasers for everyone.
What Lasers Can Do
“Real” lasers can tackle fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, melasma, and even help with rosacea and eczema. Plus, lasers are a fantastic tool for laser hair reduction. The dramatic reduction of unwanted hair can save you hundreds of hours throughout your lifetime. It is estimated that both men and women spend over a full month of their lives (24/7) removing unwanted hair via shaving, waxing, sugaring, and plucking.
Although lasers cannot guarantee to actually, permanently remove all hair in the treated area, they can substantially reduce and slow down hair growth. The only way to get rid of hair for good is through electrolysis, a very slow, painful, and expensive process. Since VIDA is dedicated to only providing you with the best treatments, we exclusively offer laser hair reduction using the best, state of the art technology. Laser hair reduction can be performed anywhere on the body or face to give you silky, smooth skin and greatly cut down on your hair removal time.
Lasers can also be used for tattoo removal. Today’s lasers are so advanced that they can address even very old, deep tattoos with traditionally stubborn colors (such as green). There are many reasons a person might want to get rid of a tattoo, whether it’s a poor design, one they no longer love, or they simply want to clear up space for a new and more suitable piece. Laser tattoo removal requires multiple sessions, but you will start to see results after just one treatment as the ink is “shattered” and then safely absorbed and expelled by the body.
A Better Body with “Lasers”
Many energy-based devices are often lumped into the laser category, such as the broadband light (BBL) treatment. BBL is the second generation of intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy and can be effective on all skin tones. BBL is a fantastic tool to take on the most common skin concerns, from wrinkles and dark spots to poor elasticity and even oversized pores. After an initial series of treatments, you can extend results with maintenance sessions that actually turn back the clock at the cellular level!
Another technology that is often part of the laser family is CoolSculpting (even though it really isn’t a laser at all). CoolSculpting is a means of contouring and sculpting the body via cryolipolysis, or freezing away the fat. At very precise temperatures, small areas of unwanted fat can be effectively “frozen” and then absorbed and expelled by the body. It isn’t a fat loss procedure, but many clients do lose a couple of pounds after their series of treatments. Rather, CoolSculpting is a fantastic tool for those at or close to their goal weight who are struggling with trouble spots and stubborn pockets of fat.
Finally, there’s Ultherapy. This also isn’t a laser, but rather ultrasound technology that tones and tightens the skin without the need for surgery. Ultherapy requires a series of sessions and gives the provider an incredible amount of control over what part of the skin is being targeted, which optimized results. It’s a fantastic complement to CoolSculpting or any other “laser” treatment, reversing the clock and giving you back the taut youthful skin you love.
