CoolSculpting has been the preferred, non-surgical, non-invasive treatment for body sculpting and contouring for years. It is one of the most popular treatments at VIDA, your more than a medical day spa, where Medical Director Dr. Glen personally trains every member of staff to the highest of standards. According to a recent 2021 study, the patient-reported outcome, or PRO, which is data that evaluates both the psychosocial and physical impact of CoolSculpting has been left wanting—until now.

The goal of the study, which was published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal, was to assess along with PRO various outcomes of CoolSculpting. Technically known as cryolipolysis, the researchers focused on the results of clients who treated the abdomen and flank areas, as these are two of the most common and popular treatment areas. A multi-national, interventional, prospective, single-cohort method was undertaken. The researchers found that the vast majority of clients said they were either “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with results 12 weeks after their final treatment. Every CoolSculpting client will require multiple sessions, or cycles, spaced four weeks apart with the average total of sessions being 4 – 6.

Results of CoolSculpting Satisfaction

Researchers also dictated other endpoints, such as happiness by treatment number, the baseline BMI of clients, number of treatment cycles, and “fat volume reduction” (which was measured by 3-D photography). It is important to note that CoolSculpting is not a “weight loss” tool, even though many people experience some fat loss at the end of their sessions. Instead, it was designed for those at or near their goal weight, but who couldn’t get problem areas to budge with diet and exercise alone.

In this study, there were 112 participants with most being female. The average mean age was 42.5 and the average BMI was 24.9. At the end of the study, 89.6 percent were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their results. The satisfaction level was high no matter which area was treated, how many treatment cycles the person underwent, or their baseline BMI. The mean fat volume reduction was 264.8 ml. In total, 90.6 percent of participants said they had “noticeable” or “very noticeable” fat reduction, and 89.6 percent said they were “likely” or “very likely” to get more areas treated. Plus, 93.4 percent said they would recommend CoolSculpting to a friend.

Is CoolSculpting for You?

If you are at or close to your goal weight, CoolSculpting might be for you. It can be administered to those who are overweight or obese, but the best results for contouring and sculpting are on those who are at a weight they like. CoolSculpting works by targeting fat areas and “freezing” away fat at precise temperatures. Results are not immediate, which is why sessions are spaced four weeks apart. When fat cells are frozen, they take time to be absorbed and expelled by the body. However, you will start to notice some results about one month after your first treatment and full results within six months of your last session.

Spring is the perfect time for CoolSculpting because you will be able to see serious results in time for summer vacation. After your treatment, bruising may occur, but CoolSculpting is most often performed in areas where it is easy to hide these very temporary side effects. For those who want to track their progress, a measuring tape, photos, and fit of clothes is a much better indicator than a scale (especially if you are also working on putting on muscle).

What to Expect with CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting can feel a bit strange for first-timers, but it is not uncomfortable. It can feel a bit like a vacuum is suctioning the target area because it is necessary to isolate the treatment sites. Most clients check their phone, read a book, listen to a podcast, or even work during their appointments. Every site takes about 30 minutes, and you can schedule back-to-back sessions if you are treating more than one area. It is the perfect lunchtime appointment since there is no downtime required.

The skill of your provider is just as important as the CoolSculpting technology. If you want the best results, only work with a medical day spa led by an MD. Schedule your CoolSculpting consultation or appointment now by calling VIDA, or simply complete the online form for the quickest response.
